Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Six staff members were
trained in July 2006 by the originator of the program, Dr.
George Sugai and other members of the state Positive
Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Team. PBIS is
geared towards focusing on the positive to eliminate the
negative. Respect is the driving theme and will be
woven into the very fabric that makes up our school. Our
entire staff will experience training during teacher pre-service
week. All behavioral infractions will be logged on the
computer and we will be able to gain a far more useful
perspective as to when, where, why, and by whom these
infractions take place. This will allow us to focus efforts
on supporting and remediating these situations and keeping
them out of the realms of instruction and learning.
